Livelihood and Employability

Livelihood is combination of activities undertaken by a household to ensure a living or basic needs. The choice of livelihood is based on the skills, availability or resources, gender, qualification, creativity, geography and many more. Svaja believe that livelihood should provide means for living, not at the cost of social - human and environmental values but with a sense of freedom and happiness:

• Livelihood should provide sense of freedom and pride by adding some value to the community.

• Reduce poverty and inequality with financial stability.

• Should have factor of happiness and fulfilment for people involved.

• Scope for learning innovation, and growth.

With this thought, Svaja is dedicated to enhancing access to livelihood opportunities and strengthening entrepreneur eco-system through livelihood and employability support interventions and need based livelihood programs. Bridging the gap of access to better marketplace for rural and artisan product to support local livelihood and enterprises will create value towards Atam Nirbhar Bharat .

Aaroh - Livelihood and Employability Support Center

"Livelihood and Employability Support Center," also known as "Aaroh Kendra," is an initiative established by the Svaja Foundation with the aim of improving access to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for disadvantaged individuals residing in semi-urban and rural areas. The primary objective of the program is to facilitate the connection of individuals in need with sustainable sources of income, as the consistent flow of income within a household is fundamental to enhancing its quality of life and fostering self-reliance. The initiative is centered around the following key objectives:

• Create career guidance centers in rural areas to bridge the gap of easy access to career counseling, guidance, and suitable employment opportunities for youth and needy.

• Create an entrepreneurial eco-system to promote local enterprises and support existing enterprises to grow and create more local livelihood.

Counseling and guidance are instrumental in effecting meaningful change in the lives of individuals. However, there remains a deficiency in providing adequate counseling and guidance, especially for needy and underserved youth and rural populations. Aaroh Kendra seeks to address this gap by offering tailored advice and raising awareness about employment opportunities. Our organization is committed to supporting individuals throughout the recruitment process and beyond, ensuring they have access to regular income, social security, and other essential benefits.

While self-employment presents an avenue for self-reliance, its success is contingent on factors such as the quality of the product or service, securing a steady customer base, and long-term sustainability. Acquiring and maintaining a consistent customer base is particularly challenging for entrepreneur groups, including self-help groups, small entrepreneurs, and federations. Aaroh Kendra aims to identify such entrepreneurs, enhance the marketability of their products, and establish connections with a sustained customer base, thereby stabilizing their income.

A steady stream of income equips families to prioritize essential needs such as education, healthcare, nutrition, social security, and housing. This transformation not only enhances the quality of life for individuals and families but also fosters a gradual positive impact on society as a whole.
